AWI Brings Automated Weather System to Kirkuk, Iraq
Sacramento, CA (October 21, 2009) — All Weather, Inc. (AWI), a leading manufacturer of weather information systems and meteorological sensors, is working with KUANTA to increase the safety for United States Military personnel who operate near the Kirkuk, Iraq airport. Safety is being enhanced by providing a state-of-the-art Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS). The AWOS III, developed by AWI, is an unmanned system that provides up-to-the-minute weather data to airport personnel, pilots, and meteorological offices in the Kirkuk region.
“These systems will provide around-the-clock weather data to the Kirkuk airport that, until now, have had limited access to weather information,” said Jason Hall, President of All Weather, Inc. “The AWOS will increase safety and situational awareness for all users of the Kirkuk airport especially the United States Military. The AWI AWOS will fill a crucial gap by providing continuous weather data”.
Included in AWI’s AWOS are sensors for measuring wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, rainfall, barometric pressure, visibility, cloud height, present weather, and runway visual range. The design of the Kirkuk AWOS is consistent with the requirements of CAT II type approaches.
